Bio

 

Sam Kirby has a diverse and extensive background in athletics, both in coaching and in operations. Currently in his third year as the Athletic Facilities and Operations Specialist, he plays a crucial role in managing game day operations for all college home events. His responsibilities also include hiring student workers and scheduling the facilities for department, internal college, and external organizational usage, ensuring that events run smoothly and efficiently.

Kirby's collegiate playing and vast coaching experience spans 25 years. His varied experience is notable, having coached baseball at Lane Community College, Western Oregon University, and Chemeketa Community College. Additionally, he has been involved with summer programs such as the Bend Elks, FCA Grays, and Niagara Power, showcasing his commitment to developing athletes at various levels.

As a former athlete himself, Kirby was the catcher on the 2004 Lane Titan baseball team that won the NWAC title, highlighting his firsthand experience with success in high level competitive sports.

His passion for supporting students and student-athletes at Chemeketa Community College is undeniable.  As well, his dedication to the enhanced experience of others is evident through his upbeat personality and ongoing efforts to engage with all involved.
