Storm Drops Round 1 Game to the Pirates
Slow start to much for Storm to overcome at NWAC Championships
On March 5, 2025, at Columbia Basin College in Pasco, WA, Peninsula showcased their #3 NWAC ranking with a decisive 66-44 victory over Chemeketa. The game was the Storm's first NWAC Championship appearance in eight years. With the loss Chemeketa closed their season with an overall record of 19-11. Peninsula's performance, saw them extend their impressive season record to 23-2, and raising their winning streak to 22 games.
Peninsula set the tone early, outscoring Chemeketa 16-3 in the first quarter and extending their lead to 36-5 by halftime. Chemeketa struggled offensively, managing only 5 points in the first half, while Peninsula capitalized on their strong defense and efficient scoring.
Despite a more competitive second half, where Chemeketa scored 39 points to Peninsula's 30, the early deficit proved insurmountable. Chemeketa's improved performance in the latter quarters was led by Annie Bafford, who scored 12 points, and Bree Peters, who contributed 11 points and 5 rebounds. Mady Diaz also added 10 points to Chemeketa's effort.
Peninsula's balanced attack was spearheaded by Ciera Tugade Agasiva, who led all scorers with 15 points and added 7 rebounds. Alexa Mackey was a force on the boards, securing a double-double with 11 points and 16 rebounds.
